| | | | | | | | Sew What? This is a series based on my family's history of sewing. I was taught by my mother (who was taught by her mother). No "home ec" in high school - I was sewing all my own clothing (mostly dresses, that's all we could wear) in junior high. My boards are the shapes of the pattern pieces that I used in the paintings. They are a mixed media of patterns, fabrics, buttons, trims, and even pins and yarns from current projects. Many of the items are from the saved patterns and supplies of my mother and grandmother's sewing. |

We helped with many projects, like building houses, digging trenches for a school's clean water and completing a medical clinic for which our church family had financed and begun in March. We also painted murals! A total of eleven walls were coated with beautiful images to encourage the orphans, students and medical center clients. It was an amazing time, and these students were an awesome crew to work with! |
